I was particularly upset the other day to receive an email from an old customer of mine on ebay to ask if I was anything to do with another ebay seller as the text, format, description of item and photographs were in her opinion very similar to mine.
Imagine my horror when I looked at this individual’s listings, he had turned himself into a mini me!
So irked was I that I decided to seek legal advice and a curt email will be winging its way to him shortly! What gives people the right to blatantly copy and feed off the hard work of others?
Some of my friends think he should be commended on how skilfully he has managed to copy my image and style but I regret I see nothing skilful or cleaver about theft.
It’s interesting to note that whilst some other seller on ebay may not copy your text word for word or steal your photos to use there is recourse in ‘passing off’ where someone attempts to copy your image and style and in the process damage your hard earned image and reputation.
Perhaps this individual should consider changing his ebay name to *delightfully*shameful*
